Mail using too much ram in Sierra

Does anyone have the same problem after installing Sierra? Mail is using more than 5GB of RAM, and fan is active almost all the time after I upgraded to Sierra. I only have 8GB of RAM and cannot install more.

Is there a reason for zapping up so much RAM, and is there a fix for this issue?
